Ryan Garcia Trainer

Ryan Garcia Hires Joe Goossen as New Trainer

Garcia Looks to Rebound with Experienced Cornerman

January 12, 2023

Lightweight contender Ryan Garcia has announced the appointment of Joe Goossen as his new head trainer. This marks the third time in five fights that Garcia has changed his corner team.

Garcia previously parted ways with long-time trainer Eddy Reynoso, who had guided him to the WBC lightweight interim title. He then briefly worked with Angel Garcia, his father and former trainer, before spliting again.

Goossen is a highly experienced trainer who has worked with world champions such as Joel Casamayor, Amir Khan, and Shane Mosley. He is known for his technical expertise and his ability to develop fighters' skills.

Garcia is set to return to the ring on April 9th against an opponent to be determined. He is confident that Goossen can help him regain his form and reach the top of the lightweight division.

"I'm excited to work with Joe," Garcia said in a press release. "He's a great trainer who has a lot of experience. I'm confident that he can help me reach my full potential."

Garcia will be training with Goossen at his gym in Van Nuys, California. The two have been working together for several weeks and are already seeing positive results.

"Ryan is a talented fighter with a lot of potential," Goossen said. "I'm confident that we can work together to achieve great things."
