Cop Involved in Tyreek Hill Detainment Placed on Administrative Leave by Miami-Dade PD

Miami-Dade Police Department Placed Officer on Leave

Miami-Dade Police Department has placed an officer on administrative leave following his involvement in the detention of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The officer's name has not been released.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, the officer was one of several who responded to a disturbance call involving Hill at a Miami Beach hotel on Tuesday, April 26. Hill was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with his girlfriend, Crystal Espinal.

Hill Detained, Espinal Not Arrested

Hill was detained by the officer, but Espinal was not arrested. Hill was later released without being charged.

The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating the incident.

Body Camera Footage Shows Hill's Detention

Body camera footage of the incident shows Hill being detained by the officer. Hill can be heard saying, "I didn't do anything." The officer tells Hill that he is being detained for disorderly conduct.

The footage also shows Espinal telling the officer that Hill did not hit her.

Hill's Attorney Denies Domestic Violence

Hill's attorney, Jake Ehrlich, denied that Hill committed domestic violence.

"Tyreek Hill did not commit any crime," Ehrlich said. "He was the victim of a misunderstanding."

Hill Has History of Domestic Violence

Hill has a history of domestic violence. In 2015, he was arrested for allegedly choking and punching Espinal, who was pregnant at the time. The charges were later dropped.

In 2019, Hill was accused of child abuse. The allegations were investigated by the NFL, but no charges were filed.
